I have finally decided that this is about as good as it gets. I expect no greater happiness can come to me no matter what I do, so I guess I am just lowering my expectations. No matter how much the business grows, the expenditures grow with it, and what is left over seems to always be the same size: infinitesimal. So, success is measured as it is in nature, by survival. I no longer do any engineering anymore, we are just selling the existing products we have, and I am managing a portion of the manufacturing business. Just settling in for the long stagnant career of running the family business. But like I said, for the amount of freedom I have, the amount I do get paid, and the great people I am managing (I have managed some real chumps before, at PTC, but had no power to remove them, I also of course had been managed by some real chumps, at PTC, but had no power to change managers), this is as good as it can be.
