Well, here I am at work, completely unaffected by the Immigrant Rally. Business as usual. We don't employ any immigrant workers here. Not because we ambitiously exclude them from the hiring process, nor do we ambitiously recruit Americans only, it is the nature of our business. We require extremely highly skilled people who are required to communicate in depth with other people on an hourly basis. We have had immigrants apply for positions from several nationalities including latino, Indian, and oriental, but either they could not understand my questions or I could not understand their answers, either way there way a huge communication gap that was already evident in the very basic questions I ask during the interview. I have not been willing so far to place the fate of our products (where mis-communication amongst perfect english speakers can happen every day, and could cost us thousands of dollars before caught) in the hands of somebody who could not even make themselves understood in the quiet, controlled environment of my office.

I am actually in favor of immigration. I think that it brings marvelously energetic, entrepenuerial, hard-working, and intelligent people to our workforce. Which also enriches our culture and society. I also however am in favor of the rule of law. There is a process described by law in which a person from a different part of the world may come here and work, go to school, and even become a full citizen of our nation. And I firmly believe that people who deliberately bypass the means described by that law, are in fact criminals, regardless of their intentions. If their intentions are good, then why do they need to hide them? As far as I know, there is no immigration quota, nobody at the gate saying "...498, 499, 500! That's it! Close the gate!" And sure the process does take some time, but the execution of the process does not stop people from proceeding with their plans.

So, to all the world: Come to America! But come legally! And come only if you want to live our way, we do not want to live your way, that's why we are not emmigrating to your country.
