Food Providing Unit Malfunction

One day Annette was away doing something (I don't remember what), but around lunchtime Corbin came up to me and said he was hungry, so I gave him a blank stare in return.  Undaunted, he told me I should make him some lunch, another blank stare.  That's when Jaime piped in "This is not your food producing unit.  Your food producing unit is absent, that unit does not produce food.  Maybe you should try getting one of these other food producing units to have pity on you."  Then Farrah came and made the same request, so reluctantly I got up to forage for food for the kids (as you know our pantry and refrigerator at home hide the food from me, and I had no expectations that the pantry and refrigerator in Midway would be trained any differently).  So after some searching around I managed to present to my children 2 plates decorated with 4 types of chips, 3 types of cookies, and some strawberries.  Upon seeing this, Farrah asked if there were any carrots or salad, and Corbin asked for some meat.  I told them there was none to be had and so they began to eat.  The other children were beginning to filter into the kitchen by this time and their food providing units were neither absent nor malfunctioning, so when they were presented with plates of actual food, they looked at their plate, then they looked at my kids' plates, and yelped out "I don't like this, why can't I eat what they are having?" To which their mothers responded "Because your food producing unit is not malfunctioning."  Eventually Alaina came in and warmed up a lasagne-type casserole that was leftover from the night before, and both of my kids ate some of that too, but Annette has been mocking me mercilessly because the casserole dish had a note right on it that said "Eat for Lunch."  But like I said, that qualifies as real food, and the refrigerator was hiding it from me.  (Actually I just did not think my kids would eat any of it, so I chose not to expose myself to that kind of failure, and instead opted for something I thought they would eat.)
